How to Get the Trade License in Adopt Me — Test Answers

Updated

The Trade License is free: pass a short test in the Safety Hub behind Green Groceries by judging three trade scenarios as safe or a scam. Without it you can't trade Ultra-Rare or Legendary pets.

The Trade License test is three questions long and you can't fail it for good — retakes are unlimited. What it actually trains is one habit: every trade goes through the trade window, at the same time, or it doesn't happen.

What the Trade License unlocks

The license came with the big trading update on November 5, 2020, as an anti-scam measure. It gives you:

  • trading of Ultra-Rare and Legendary items — without it they won't go into the trade window;
  • your trade history for the last 30 days;
  • a way to report scammers.

It sits in your inventory as a toy. Hold it and tap the screen to open your history and reports. You can't trade it or give it to a friend.

Where to take the Trade License test

The test is in the Safety Hub on Adoption Island, behind Green Groceries — a white two-story building with a golden scale on the roof.

Inside, head to the foot of the stairs. Agent Jake stands next to the test door and reminds you that you can retake it, adding: "Remember to never trust people that you don't know!" Talk to him, hit "Yes" on the pop-up and walk through. Agent Alex inside asks if you want to start.

How the test works: three scenes, two buttons

You watch a short animation of a trade between two players, then get asked whether the trade was safe. You answer by stepping on a button:

Button Answer When
Green Yes — safe a normal trade through the trade window
Red No — scam someone gives first, "trusts", or "borrows"

Get all three right and the glass barriers lift into the pet and egg section of the Nursery, where the license sits on a pedestal. Miss one and you get a fail pop-up and start over.

Trade License test answers: spotting the scam in one second

Every scene comes down to one question: do both players put their items in the trade window and both press accept? Yes means a normal trade — green. If someone has to hand something over first and wait, it's a scam — red.

Press red when you see one of these

  • Trust trade. You accept with your pet against an empty slot or junk, "trusting" the other player won't accept too. They will. Always a scam.
  • "My trade menu is broken." They want you to just give the pet, and they'll "give theirs after". The trade menu always works; if it won't open, they turned trades off themselves.
  • Borrowing. They borrow something cheap and return it to earn your trust, then borrow something big and leave.
  • "Give it, I'll give it right back." Same move, sold as a "test" with a cheap pet first.
  • Video thumbnail. They want your best pet against an empty slot "for a screenshot", promising to decline. They accept.
  • Contest. To "win" you have to give the host your best pet. Nobody wins.

Press green when it's a normal trade

Both players open the trade window, add their own items, see each other's side and accept after the countdown. Whether it's a W or an L isn't what the test is asking — that's a job for the trade calculator.

The one slip people make: read the question. It asks whether the trade was safe, so "Yes" means safe and "No" means scam.

What the trade window does to protect you

The test teaches you to stay in the trade window, and the window has its own safety net:

  • Every change restarts a 5-second countdown before accept appears, so nobody can swap an item at the last moment.
  • If the game flags the trade as unfair, it warns both players and adds 15 more seconds to think.
  • Since January 14, 2026, you can ask to view the other player's backpack and suggest adding or removing items — the fix for Roblox's age-based chat limits.
  • Since July 31, 2026, the Trading Hub handles cross-server trades: a listing costs 100 Bucks, you get two slots (a third is 49 Robux), and offers that are too unbalanced won't go through.

We wouldn't leave the trade window for any "it's faster this way". Everything offered outside it is one of the schemes above. The full list is in Adopt Me Scams in 2026: Every Trick and How to Avoid It.

What to do if you got scammed

Report the trade from the Trade Book at the back of the Safety Hub, or straight from the license in your hand. Every trade is logged and staff review the report.

If the scammer is banned and doesn't appeal within 30 days, the trade gets reverted and your items come back. The catch: returned items become permanently untradable. The pet is yours again, but you'll never trade it.
