Don't trade anything valuable for one. Trades with Rock rarely feel like a win, and most players see it as an add, not the main offer. It left the game and is trade-only now, so you can't just buy another one.
It was an uncommon pet sold for 350 bucks. That price kept it common back then, and a lot of players made Neons from it. Groups of four Rocks are easy to find, so a Neon ends up cheaper than four separate ones.
If you have a Rock, use it as an add in a bigger trade or save it for a Neon. A regular FR Rock is worth noticeably more than a plain one. Price estimates for it vary a lot, so don't accept the first offer — check against Sea Angel or Salamander, which sit at about the same value. We'd only pick one up as a filler.
